  • How long does it take to implement?
Many factors go into creating a implementation plan and timeline. How long your project takes is dependent on your project size and the division of labor between KnarrTek and your company. For the most basic implementations, you could be up and running in a weekend. Streamlining a high-efficiency industrial operation will take more time, but if you have specific timing targets or goals, we can set you on the right path of support and product education that will make your specific team successful - even taking into account your staff's existing workload.
  • How much will it cost me?
This depends on your project size but on average each account could budget $1000 per month with an initial investment between $15-25k in support services to get up and running. The division of labor between KnarrTek and your company, and project size dictate the total investment for your system.
  • Does your software integrate with my ERP or Accounting system?
KnarrTek can facilitate connections between our Bellhawk Software and several accounting and ERP systems via our partner software, MilramX. Bellhawk is a flexible system which does not have a standard interface to any system, but with MilramX, can have a purpose-built interface to work with your facility's needs. From CAD to QuickBooks, KnarrTek can assemble a solution for you.
  • Can I print my own barcodes out of your system?
Yes! You can print your own barcodes through an integration with the BarTender software made by Seagull Scientific, whose 885 global partners count on it for unflappable reliability. BellHawk integrates with this system through their SDK, ensuring consistency and compatibility.
  • Can I capture my own custom information within the system?
Yes! Customization is in our DNA. BellHawk allows you to capture custom information using our User Defined Parameters module that comes for free with any base BellHawk system, whether you use the BellHawk Cloud service, or any combination of our on-site IIOT solutions.
  • How do you access the software?
You access our BellHawk software via a web browser on a desktop or handheld device, via internet or intranet.
  • What are "DALs" and "CALs"?
CALs, or Client Access Licenses, are usually assigned to managers who are managing inventory or creating orders in BellHawk. A DAL, or Device Access License, relates to the number of pieces of equipment or stations out on the floor. You can create an unlimited amount of users using a single DAL, allowing for kiosks to be made or having people from multiple shifts using the same device. This allows the pricing the stay lower and not be "one-to-one" for the number of people out on the floor.
  • Can I see a demo of the software?
Yes, of course! To do a demo for your team, we will need specific information from you about the flow of information and the information you want to capture, then we can show you what BellHawk can do to improve your facility's performance.
  • What type of equipment do I need to run your software?
You just need equipment that has a barcode scanner and either an integral web browser or is connected to a PC with a web browser. If you are label printing you need to make sure the printer meets your printing requirements. For a facility-wide implementation, we can demonstrate how BellHawk can keep tabs on workers, containers, and process flows, to help you fully optimize your operation.
  • Can you provide references for other people in my industry who have implemented this type of system?
Yes of course! Contact us with a bit more information about your needs and we can provide you with the most relevant references.
  • How do DALs and CALs work?
CALs are client access licenses which are usually assigned to managers who are managing inventory or creating orders in BellHawk. A DAL relates to the number of equipment or stations out on the floor. You can unlimited amount of users using a single DAL that allows for kiosks to be made or having people from multiple shifts using the same device to allow the pricing the stay lower and not be one-to-one for amount of people out on the floor.
  • I bought a barcode scanner but it doesn’t just know all the information automatically when I scan it. Help!
For our BellHawk product we use a "license plate" label, which uses unique letters and number like the license plate on your car, but when you want to know information about the package you can use that barcode to look up all of the information in the system, for that particular package. During initial set-up, you'll need to enter or import the necessary information to BellHawk, then subsequently add or update items as necessary.
  • This is taking longer to implement than expected; why is that?
There are a few factors which can affect implementation time. Your organization's internal processes and speed with which your teams make decisions can play a role. Trying to do it all on your own can also make the implementation take longer. With KnarrTek's expert assistance, this process can be quicker and more efficient. The more basic data you have documented, such as product part numbers and any location information you rely on regularly, prior to implementing software the quicker the project proceeds. If you have assigned part numbers, know what data you want to capture and understand the specific scenario in which you want to that capture information the system can be implemented very quickly, possibly as little as 48 hours.
  • I am changing ERP systems can you "work" with our new software?
Yes! We would have to modify your current integration or would have to create a brand new integration.
  • We want to print out our own barcodes; how do we do that?
Yes, you can print your own barcodes with an integration with a software called BarTender made by Seagull Scientific that BellHawk integrates with using BarTenders SDK.
  • If we wanted to do a special customization how would we go about that in your system?
Let's talk! This depends on what you are looking for. Often, we can showcase how your use case would readily fit within the system, or we can let you know if the solution is unique and share customizations that are possible for your team.
  • How can I capture additional information within the system with our new requirements?
Let's discuss how your use case is supported within our comprehensive system. With User Defined Parameters and various hardware and configuration options, BellHawk and MilramX can track and support your materials in compliance with regulations like FSMA 204, GS1, and far beyond. Bring us your Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 goals, and we will build a solution to fit your organization.
  • Another department or additional area wants to capture similar information... Can they use the same system or should they buy their own instance of BellHawk?
If your two departments want to capture largely different information, we would want to use different BellHawks. In the case of a physically large but contiguous operation, the interoperability of the data allows for the practical use of a single instance of BellHawk. A warehouse and manufacturing facility on a single campus, for example. If the amount of data is very large or they are physically separated by a considerable geographic distance, we would advise that additional instances of Bellhawk be purchased for each location or facility.
  • How does license plate container barcodes work?
KnarrTek uses a "license plate" label, which is just unique letters and numbers like the license plate on your car, except that when you want to know information about a specific package which has one assigned to it, you can use that barcode to look up all of the information on that package which is in the system. This information can be from UDP (User Defined Parameters) which are assigned to a particular class of material or container, or can have as much or as little information as you need to attach to a particular part, bin, jug, pallet, or other container.
  • I don’t want to label everything! Is there a solution which allows me to only label the bare minimum?
Yes! You can label individual pieces or containers or pallets or truckloads, but keep in mind that the information you will have available as a manager can only be as precise as what you scan in. This may not be as accurate as you might want, for your operation. It is a trade-off between the amount of data captured and the amount of additional manual work you will need, to obtain and use the same information. Generally, this is a balance between someone on the floor doing the work, versus the manager capturing the data they need to efficiently drive their department to success.
